Striving to Ensure Social Justice
Child Labour and Their Parents
Vikas Trust owes its origin to conditions of poverty and deprivation of child labourers and their families in Firozabad district. Even today most of the interventions of the organisation are centred around child labour and their families. Despite concerted efforts spanning almost two decades child labour continues in the area in glass.
At present the organisation is running three non-formal education centres for child labour at three villages in the operational area. Other activities are interwoven around these centres:
- Training of NFE centre instructors for improving their teaching
- Training of bal panchayat and child rights protection committee members
- Interface of liberated child labour and school children
- Awareness rallies to eliminate child labour
- Training of guardians of child labour in carpet industry
- Training on livelihood development
- Gram Sabha awareness training
- Sensitisation of panchayats on child labour liberation
