Donate Old Household Items

If you want to donate your old household items to poor, you can send them to Vikas Ashram, camp office of Vikas Trust. Since reaching these items to the poor is expensive, you can also contribute to transportation and other charges by donating a sum of Rs 3,000 to Vikas Trust. This amount is sufficient to help the 100 poorest families in getting them clothes to cover their bodies and other necessary things.

This effort of Vikas Trust has been started for the deprived people living in abysmally miserable conditions. Child labourers and their families, who are working in industries like brick kiln, glass industry and carpet industry, and agriculture sector, somehow manage to get food, but other necessities are a dream for them. These necessities include clothes to cover their bodies, slippers and shoes to save themselves in summers and winters, toys for children to play, and books and exercise books for the children to study.

Vikas Trust distributes the old used items given by you to these poor families. In order to avoid these deprived people getting depressed, the organization makes them feel that only by doing quality hard work they can be successful and without hard work success cannot be achieved.

The new or old items or a help of Rs 3,000 provided by you for clothes and to help the children is utilized for spending on transportation and pocket money to the volunteers who do nothing but this pious work from morning to evening. Vikas Trust does not charge anything from the deprived people for providing these items to them.

Help the Disabled

If you want to donate something to the poorest, weak, disabled people, you can send money as per following table to Vikas Trust through cheque/demand draft/direct transfer. Through this work you can provide the disabled/eye patients the devices they badly need to ease their lives.

The above cost is for one child. It depends on the donor as to how many children he intends to donate for. In addition, if you want to help the disabled children in getting education up to 5th standard, it costs Rs 3,000 per year per child. The cost of professional training for 180 hours is about Rs 4,000. If you want to help a child for operation, you can donate Rs 5,000 to Vikas Trust for normal operation.

Vikas Trust works for such disabled persons, who are disabled from hand, leg or eyes. The Trust works to provide education and health to such disabled persons along with distribution of instruments among them. It is working to provide them general as well as professional education. The children who are suffering from polio and if operation can increase their mobility, Vikas Trust gets them operated from the specialist doctors and helps those children who do not have resources for operation.

Children who have yet not started the studies, or those who are drop-outs, are enrolled to the class as per their education level. If the children do not feel benefitted by getting general education and have got education till 8th or 10th standard and want to receive professional education, Vikas Trust provides the same.

As it is running vocational training through its Vikas Ashram recognised by NCVT, and has its own vehicle – Tata Magic, to ferry the disabled children, the donor will be spending only on its fuel. Vikas Trust has a lot of disabled children who are waiting for your help. In this way it is your wish to help them in all the three works or a single work.

Working for the Poor Unemployed

There are scores of people without sufficient means of livelihood. As a result their social and economic base is very weak, and they do not have resources for their food, clothes, shelter and bringing up of their children. If you want to help women of such families to become entrepreneur, you can donate Rs 15,000 to Vikas Trust to link one such woman to livelihood. Training on preparation of pulses, cattle rearing, agriculture and gardening is provided through this money to strengthen this business. They are also helped in marketing of their product.

Vikas Trust collaborates with the other organizations to provide a helping hand to women in acquiring the material and selling the product in the market and in provides them training. For example Shakti Export Overseas makes and sells pulses made by women only. In this way Vikas Trust is helping in making the women entrepreneur through the works related to agriculture, gardening and cattle rearing and selling the product made with their efforts through Shakti Export Overseas and like organizations.

Donate for Child Education

If you want to donate for the education of such children who have never been to school or who have dropped out after one or two years or the children who are working as child labourers in carpet industry, glass industry, agricultural industry or brick kilns and living life of slaves; you can do so by donating Rs 10,000 for one child. This money will enable him/her to get education up to class 5 and vocational training in the trade of his/her interest. All these tasks will be completed within three years.

Vikas Trust is running 18 trades at its Vocational Training Centre, Vikas Ashram. All the courses are recognized by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), India. So if the donors give financial help, Vikas Trust does not face any difficulty in providing professional training to the child labourers. The Trust links the child labourers to the government schools and to the private schools in their absence. At the same time it also opens up educational motivation centre, where it has a separate arrangement for two hours of their studies. These centres are to be opened up as the children being working as slaves have got weaker in studies and so require educational support.

Sustainable Livelihood

If you want to develop sustainable livelihood among the poor along with environmental conservation through plantation, a donation of Rs 500 from you to Vikas Trust enables a poor and weak person in getting plant saplings of five fruit bearing trees, which help him in developing sustainable livelihood for him. Afterwards the full property of these trees will be of the beneficiary.

Vikas Trust started this programme for those poor who are landless and those who do not have any source of income and have only a hut or a small house and have some of the empty space to make their house. These families will not be benefitted immediately but after five years they will be getting Rs 5,000-6,000 every year.

In this programme Vikas Trust gives five saplings of fruit bearing trees to the poor, which start giving fruits after five years. Even if 40 per cent of the trees are left after five years and start bearing fruits, a family can earn more than the amount mentioned above, as a single fruit bearing tree gives fruits of about Rs 5,000-6,000. In this way Vikas Trust distributes and monitors the trees provided to them and tries to see whether the beneficiaries are looking after the trees or not. It also sees whether these trees are given water and manure in a proper way or the trees might not have acquired any disease. This comes under the role of Vikas Trust.

The ownership of trees belongs to the person who has brought it up and for the whole life he has the right to get fruits and the earnings from that tree. Mango and jackfruit saplings are being provided, which are as per the persisting environmental conditions of Agra zone.

Sanitary Napkins

Vikas Trust also prepares sanitary napkins from old cotton clothes, to be used by women from poor families during their menstrual cycle and save themselves from the sex-related diseases. As these poor women lack cotton clothes, Vikas Trust gets these clothes washed using dettol, and then other workers from the Trust prepare the napkins with the help of scissors and sewing machine. If you want to provide your help in this work, your Rs 3,000 can make available five sanitary napkins every month for one year to each of the 50 women for whom you are donating. In this way 100 women are saved from the dreaded sex related diseases, and thus the money to be spent on their health can be saved. This can prevent them falling in debt trap.

Vikas Trust forms self help groups of poor women for their socio-economic development. At present there are about 200-250 SHGs formed by the Trust with around 3000-3500 women members. In addition about same number of women labourers from brick kiln are also linked to the Trust, who does not have clothes to cover their body, leave aside napkins. They are labourers from Bihar and work in Uttar Pradesh brick kilns to make bricks. Here they are living a life of animals. In this way about 6,000-7,000 poor women are linked to Vikas Trust who cannot purchase sanitary napkins as they have the question of fulfilling their daily needs before them. In addition there are same numbers of adolescent girls with the Trust who do not have clothes to wear. So this work is very important in the areas of health for women and girls. Vikas Trust has the community of those women and girls, 80 percent of among which are said to be untouchables, who are facing the problems of spending on their daily needs.
